What is private hire, and how is it different from hailing a cab?
Private hire means the journey is booked before the car comes to you. You tell us where you are, where you are going and when, and we send a car and a driver for that job. Because the trip is arranged in advance, the price is agreed in advance too, so there is no meter ticking while you sit in traffic on the A41 or wait at the lights in Shirley.
Most of what we do is everyday private hire at everyday prices: a lift to Touchwood, a run to Solihull station, a hospital appointment, a meal out in Knowle or Dorridge, or a late return from Birmingham after a concert. The executive cars are there for the days that call for them, and you only pay for them when you choose them.
Where do you cover?
We are based in Solihull, and most local journeys start in Solihull, Shirley, Knowle, Dorridge, Meriden and Balsall Common. We also run regularly into Birmingham and Coventry and down to Warwick, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon. If your journey goes further, we travel nationwide, door to door, so a trip to see family at the other end of the country is the same booking as a run to the station.
Call 0121 414 0786 for Solihull, Birmingham and the surrounding areas, or 01676 478786 if you are in Meriden or Balsall Common.
Which car will I get?
For one to four passengers with a couple of cases, a standard saloon does the job. If there are five of you, ask for the 6-seat MPV, and for up to six passengers with plenty of luggage, the 7-seater MPV. If you would like something more special for an occasion, our luxury cars carry three passengers.
If you are not sure, choose no preference on the quote form and we will match the car to the journey. Telling us about luggage, a pushchair or shopping bags helps us send the right size first time.
Can I ask for a female driver?
Yes. Female drivers are available on request. Just mention it when you book, by phone, by email or in the quote form, and we will arrange it wherever possible. It can make a real difference for a late journey home, for an elderly relative travelling alone, or simply for feeling more comfortable in the car.
How is a private hire fare worked out?
Every fare is quoted before you travel and confirmed in writing. In general the price depends on the distance, the time of day, how long the driver needs to wait, and the size of car. A return journey with a wait, such as a hospital appointment, is quoted as one job so you know the full cost up front.
Local fares can be paid by cash or card. If you travel for work regularly, ask us about a corporate account.
How do I book a taxi with KGN?
Use the quote form on the contact page, call us, or email info@kgnexecutivetransfers.co.uk. Bookings are taken seven days a week, and pre-booked journeys can be at any hour, so an early train or a late flight is not a problem. Give us the pick-up address, the destination, the date and time, the number of passengers and any luggage, and we will come back with a fixed price.
